We offer First Aid training courses at levels 1, 2 and 3.

Level 1 - Basic First Aid Course
SAQA Unit Standard No 119567: 'Perform Basic Life Support and First Aid Procedures'.
This Level 1/basic first aid course meets the requirements of the Department of Employment and Labour in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Level 2 - Intermediate First Aid Course
SAQA Unit Standard No: 120496 'Provide Risk Based Primary Emergency Care/First Aid in the Workplace'.
This First Aid level 2 training course is a pre-requisite for doing the advanced level 3 first aid course. The level 2 first aid and level 3 first aid courses may be done together. Please contact us for more details in this regard.

Level 3 - Advanced First Aid Course
SAQA Unit Standard No: 376480 'Provide first aid as an advanced first responder'.
This advanced first aid training course covers topics essential for persons working in hazardous environments or living in areas where medical emergency response is slow and/or medical care is not readily accessible. This Level 3/advanced first aid course meets the requirements of the Department of Employment and Labour in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act in respect of workplaces where hazardous conditions are present.

• Our first aid training consist of workshops in which formal instruction is given and practical demonstrations and practice of techniques such as performing CPR, using an AED, providing proper spinal injury care and more are done under supervision of our trained facilitators. Exercises and assessment opportunities are given.
• By using a systematic approach, IEFA's first aid courses enable first responders to act efficiently and effectively, step-by-step, in response to a health emergency; this is a practical, hands-on first aid course.
• Our first aid courses are fully outcomes-based and cater for learners with different levels of education and cognitive skills including individuals with limited reading and writing skills.
• The first aid training materials, which are continuously updated, are designed to provide learners with the most current theory and practical guidelines for rendering emergency first aid care.
• The first aid training manuals consist of units. Learning outcomes are stated for each unit in the manual and learners are presented with course information and summaries to assist them achieve these outcomes. The manual also contains assessment guidelines and self-assessment activities, which will help learners to monitor their progress.
• Our first aid teaching aids and equipment are of the highest quality and include imported manikins and also imported ACTAR 911 CPR manikins. Our audio visual aids for first aid training include PowerPoint presentations, videos, anatomical charts and flip-charts.
• The first aid training courses are concluded with formal learner assessment. Every effort is made to ensure that assessment practices are relevant, transparent and fair.
• Certificates are given on successful completion of the first aid course and formal assessment of the learner. If any learner is not yet competent, he/she may repeat the course at no extra cost. The certificate is valid for three years after which learners will be required to redo the course. This legal requirement is stipulated for all first aid courses to enable first aiders to keep their first aid skills sharpened and to become familiar with new first aid practices and procedures.
• Learners are encouraged to actively participate in their selected first aid training course, ask questions and to keep the facilitator informed of needs through asking for the support and help that they require.
• Refresher first aid courses are also held regularly.
